  • Master Plan Community Survey Coming Soon

    Carbondale, CO – The Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District Master Plan community survey will be sent out soon. A scientifically generated random sampling of residents will receive one of 3,500 surveys. The surveys will be sent by our partner, RRC Associates in Denver. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete and can be completed on online or on paper and mailed back. There is also an option to complete the survey online in Spanish. All completed surveys, whether mailed in or completed online, will be confidential. Read more
  • Thanks to the Rams for Helping Out at the Firehouse!

    Thanks to the 12 Roaring Fork High School ‪Rams‬ who spent the day with us at the fire house! According to the Post Independent: "Roaring Fork High School’s entire student body took a break from school Thursday to serve their community as part of the annual Rams Day. Groups of students helped out at other area schools, did some spring cleaning and performed random acts of kindness around town. In the afternoon, they were rewarded with games and competitions back at the high school. Read more
  • Carbondale Fire Responds to Structure Fire

    Carbondale, CO Around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015, Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District responded to 0524 Highway 133, for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, the firefighters found a commercial business complex with heavy smoke coming from the roof of the building. Carbondale Fire responded with a fire engine, ladder truck, an ambulance and 16 personnel to this fire. Firefighters laddered the building to gain access to the roof. The fire was found to be burning in the roof between two units in the building. Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control and stop the fire spread. Both units, along with the roof, sustained fire and smoke damage. Read more
  • Master Plan Neighborhood Meeting Schedule

    The Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District Master Plan process has been launched by the Board of Directors. One of the primary tasks of the Master Plan is to seek input from the public. The consultant team has scheduled 13 neighborhood meetings to gather information from the residents of the District. The consultants, Mark Chain and Leslie Lamont, will facilitate the meetings.   • Carbondale Fire Announces Master Plan Study Consultants

    Carbondale, CO The Board of Directors of the Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District is pleased to announce the selection of Almont Associates of Port Orange, FL and Mark Chain Consulting, LLC, working with Leslie Lamont of Lamont Planning Services of Carbondale, CO as co-consultants for the development of the District’s Master Plan Study. The District expects to have final contracts in place with both firms for final approval by the Board of Directors by the end of February. Almont Associates bid of $33,960 generally includes an analysis of the fire districts current operations including comparisons with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International standards and National Fire Protection Association codes and standards. Almont Associates will provide recommendations on future services and the organizational structure of the District. Read more
  • Carbondale Fire Responds to Structure Fire

    At 8:04 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District was paged to 171 Highway 133 #B-12, Mountain Valley Mobile Home Park, for a report of a structure fire.  Upon arrival, the firefighters found flames and heavy smoke coming from the mobile home.

  • Public Safety Coffee with the Chiefs to be Held

    Carbondale, CO Coffee With the Chiefs will take place every third Thursday at the Village Smithy Restaurant in Carbondale, CO, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Carbondale Police Department and Carbondale Fire Department are joining together to host a monthly Public Safety Coffee with the Chiefs. The purpose of Public Safety Coffee with the Chiefs is to offer the public an opportunity to meet their Police Chief (Gene Schilling) and Fire Chief (Ron Leach) in a casual setting, ask questions, and learn about the police and fire departments.   • Carbondale Fire Responds to Propane Delivery Truck on Fire

    Carbondale, CO At 9:44 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015, Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District was paged for a report of a structure fire at Propane Services, 1058 County Road 100, Carbondale. While en-route, dispatch reported that a propane delivery truck was on fire. The first responding fire engine was on scene in 15 minutes. When the first responding engine arrived on scene, they found the cab of a propane truck fully involved in fire, with flames reaching the propane tank. The fire was extinguished and the propane tank cooled before it had a chance to activate the pressure relief valve or catch on fire. Read more
