Notice of New Sales Tax Implementation
November 10, 2025
TO ALL MERCHANTS, VENDORS, AND OTHER SALES TAX COLLECTORS, AND TO ANY OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on November 4, 2025, the Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District's voters authorized the Fire District to impose a one and one-half percent (1.5%) sales tax on sales occurring within its boundaries. Beginning January 1, 2026, the Fire District's sales tax is required to be charged by all merchants, vendors, and other sales tax collectors on all sales to which the Fire District's sales tax applies, regardless of whether they are located within or outside the Fire District's boundaries.
Certain exemptions apply to the Fire District's sales tax. A copy of the Fire District's Resolution to Enact a Sales Tax, including a listing of all sales tax exemptions, is available at Resolution to Enact a Sales Tax or may be obtained by contacting:
Jenny Cutright, Deputy Chief

Please adjust your registers accordingly so that they correctly calculate the amount of sales tax that needs to be collected on any taxable sales occurring on or after January 1, 2026. The Fire District's sales tax will be collected by the Colorado Department of Revenue. Additional information regarding the sales tax collection process may be obtained by contacting the Colorado Department of Revenue directly.
Questions regarding this Notice or the new sales tax may be directed to Deputy Chief Jenny Cutright at (970) 963-2491 or cutright@carbondalefire.org.
BY ORDER OF THE CARBONDALE AND RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
